Founded in 1888 by Don Andrés Brugal Montaner, a Spaniard who settled in Puerto Plata on the Dominican north coast nine years later. The house style is built on repeated distillation for a light, clean spirit and on maturation in ex-bourbon American oak and ex-sherry European oak. Associated with the Scottish group Edrington since 2008.
